Each baby is very different so this is hard to say exactly. Walking can happen anytime between 8-16 months and be perfectly normal. About a year old is average for babies to walk. Crawling is something that not all babies do. Somewhere between 7-10 months, a lot of babies will begin crawling, but some are closer to 1 year old before that skill begins developing and some are as young as 5-6 months old. Talking and understanding increases by leaps and bounds between 1-2 years. Babbling is pretty common beginning about 6-9 months, but words with intentional meaning don't develop generally until about 12-15 months. What babies can understand is much more advanced than their ability to speak at their first birthday. There are standardized milestone charts that you can get from your pediatrician. It is important to note that these are just guidelines and if your baby is doing something before the posted age, it does not mean they are gifted any more than doing something later than the charts say make your child slow.

There's not a standard gauge as each childs different. A friend of ours had a 1 year old that walked a few days before his first birthday, then didn't walk again for a couple of months.

I've known one that spoke basics like Da da, ball and similar at one, another at 9 months.

At 6 and a half my little boy's just rolling on the floor, he can't crawl yet. He still lacks the balance to sit upright for any length of time.

Every baby's different, each in their own time.

Generally, a baby of one should be able to point and reach for items; say mama, dada and one other word and wave bye-bye.
Crawling is not considered by most doctors to be a necessary milestone, since many babies don't ever crawl and turn out to be just fine.
Walking can take place anywhere between 9-14 months, with most babies hitting the mark right around their first birthday.

All babies develop at different rates and your dr will let you know if something is wrong. By the age of 1 most babies are saying some words (mama, dada, bye bye, hi, some animal sounds etc) are definitely crawling and most are walking or getting ready to walk, they will wave bye bye, and can point to mommy, daddy, dog, when asked.

as long as your baby is using some type of locomotion technique to get from place to place he's fine. Your child should be able to get from tummy to sitting posistion. Your child should be using his forefinger and thumb to pick things up. He/she should be using both sides of his body equally. As far as words, don't expect much! If baby is babbling, that is what is most important. And walking, well, if baby is not walking by 18 months, then be concerned. Otherwise, 14-15 months is the average.

My nephews are 14 months and are just now learning to walk.It not like we don't show them, they can walk fine if they are walking something but other then that they don't want to do it by themselfs.they are twins. A child at one I would think should be crawling and saying some words.Like mama and dada. and lil stuff like that. Not like how we talk.

when my daughter was a year she was talking and walking but had no teeth! I think kids learn at their own pace and there is no right answer to that question. Now if the child is four and isn't speaking yet you should start to wonder!
