For the first twenty years of his life Luke didn't know about the Force until Obi-wan came around. Then Obi-wan died a few days later and Luke didn't have a teacher for three years until Yoda. Even though Yoda was the greatest Jedi Master of the Old Republic, Luke only stayed with him for a week or two and didn't return for six months! And then Yoda died when he got back. How does a guy who has only been formally trained for maybe a month save the galaxy and eventually bring back the Jedi Order?

Cause he's got the force, man! That's all anyone needs for a good base, then hone the fighting skills later. He didn't need to know he had it cause he just had to have it.

Two things.

1. The movie does not really say how long he was with Yoda. It could have been a longer time than that. How long was the Millenium Falcon in space? They had to get to Lando's place without even using the hyperdrive. In space, that could have taken a long time.

2. Who is to say that he didn't train some on his own in the six months, according to you, between leaving and returning to Yoda? Using the force, he could have better mastered what he had learned.

3. The force was very strong with him. Less of it had to do with Luke and Obi-Wan and Yoda as what had to do with the force. It is a mysterious thing, this force. It does what it wants to in order to create more interesting movies...

Except for those lousy prequels. :-)

Darth Vader was the one that brings the balance to the universe because at the end he killed the Lord Sith.

Luke had the force because of Anakin, but he kind of remind Darth Vader what his life was... So you can interpreted as you want, I think Luke was just a way for Anakin to see that it was something that matter more to him than power.

In Episode 1 they say Anakin will bring the balance to the force and he did on Episode 6 by killing the Sith.

That's my interpretation.

Because his becoming such a powerful Jedi was needed for the script. It's Hollywood, not reality.

I interpreted it as Luke receiving ~3 years of training, personally. He was trained by Yoda himself, as well. Further, Darth Vader -wanted- to lose. He fought out of his loyalty to the Emperor, but deep down he understood that what he was doing was wrong.

He was the son of Anakain. One of the strongest with the force. His sister had no training but could sense his presence

He was the greatest because he was the only one left, all the other Jedi were dead.
