This question is impossible to answer. There are no limitations and every car can handle a different amount of horsepower.

Well top fuel dragsters can produce 3000 plus but I wouldn't spend that kind of money to find out. The phase "The skies the limit" applies to rich men.
Jay Leno owns a Toronado with 1000 horse power. Cadillac offers 1000hp.Emagine these with NOS.

we really don't have accurate figures due to the fact that there is no equipment to measure the horse power that can be made today. Top fuel funny cars and dragsters are believed to be making as much as 7000 hp.

Cars can have upwards of a thousand horsepower. BUT , it all relates to: size of engine, configuration of heads/multiple valves, turbocharging of supercharging, options hung on the engine (parisitic loss), fuel, exhaust and others too numerous to list here. You can have a drag racer with thousands of horsepower but it would not be easily driveable on the street. Many premium car manufactureres have made cars that are driveable with close to a thousand horsepower (the Cadillac V16 come to mind as the most recent example).

There is no answer to this question. Some race cars have over 6000 hp, so who can say? They can put in more HP than you will ever need on the street. And really, how much do you need on the street anyway. With the price of gas what it is, it may be cheaper to cruise than race. Although it still is, whatever floats your boat. good luck.

depends on the car, even 4 cyl honda motors are putting out 500+ hp with turbo kits etc. I think the highest horse power stock car is close to 1000 hp with turbo v12 engines

10 million, stupid question, however I do remember seeing a sledgehammer corvette with like 1800 something, and a skyline with 1700. If you have the money you could make more I'm sure, but just saying, you didn't specify what kind of car.
