The attraction is having an open mind. Conservatives, by definition, like the status quo, and are opposed to any change. Sometimes, change is good. At least exploring the possibility of change can be good. Also, recently, conservatives have taken to calling everybody that doesn't agree with them unpatriotic or a traitor. Bush's "your either with us, or against us" mind set. It is not healthy and it is dangerous. I could go on for pages, but that is the main reason.

I have a feeling you don't want to understand!

Liberals, only a portion of the Democratic party, believe that the "system" is there for everyone, not just a very few. You have no problems with people who average 26.5 MILLION a year getting tax cuts, but you are against paying people minimum wage! Free enterprise works both ways, but not according to your ilk. You can steal from the poor, and steal from the taxpayers, who are NOT the rich, and then point a finger at them and say it is they who are the problem!

The problem are self-centered, narcissistic Conservatives, who takes government handouts their whole life, and feel they owe nothing to those who gave it to them with the sweat of THEIR labor, not some shareholder!

You get rich off of the poor, you pay so little that almost 1/2 of the people who are homeless have a full time job.

You, and those like you, are the problem, not the solution!

Well, actually, it is my religion that tells me to be a liberal. Jesus tells us in no uncertain terms that we are responsible to one another. So, spiritually speaking we have an obligation to help the poor, love our enemies, be good stewards of God's gifts, and do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Fairness and Social justice are common themes in the gospels, as well as leaving judgment to God.

So between liberals and conservatives, which group stands up to help the poor, protect the weak, protect the environment, make peace not war, expand equal rights, promote tolerance, and protest injustice? I'm a Christian, so I align myself with liberals.

Ultimately, isn't deficit spending to the tune of 8.8 TRILLION in debt a far greater threat to Americans and national security than a balanced budget filled with too many social programs?

Pure and simple--

Libs are for helping people. Cons are about helping themselves.

I side wth libs in that I don't want the gov to meddle in personal affairs. I side with cons as I don't want the gov. to meddle in bus. affairs.

The dems are like herding cats-- they debate on all things. Cons stick to group-think.

And let's dispell the myth that libs are not people of faith. They are, they simply don't wear their faith on their sleeve as much as cons do.

I'm not a lib or con-- I'm in the middle.
