Aw c'mon. She's got that whole "no-neck" thing goin. Even the host on the Number 1 rated morning show here and on five other stations plus XM calls her "Shrek."
Who said being an ogre is a bad thing? It's all about perspective. Just so happens that this Lil Shrek can sing but she ain't too easy on the eyes. Nice, polite, polished, yes. Attractive? mmmmm, not so much.
Some people have no tact; others have no taste. Kinda like purple hair . . . not so much.

I agree that Melinda should not be called that. It is rude and tasteless of people. So what if she's not a supermodel? That girl's got PIPES. Unfortunately, most veiwers judge by looks and not by talent. If they did, then Sanjaya never whould have gotten into the top 12.

She is goregeous! She was by far the best singer, and she should NOT have been voted off! So what if she is a little chubby? She is a beautiful woman who will go far, even after american idol. She is NOT a little shrek.

It's a shame that people will resort to calling her something so derogatory, especially since she is one of the nicest and most humble people out there. Don't let it upset you, though, because while people are busy talking about how ugly they think she is, she's out there networking and on the verge of making a nice bit of money.

This is one of the reasons I got turned off by American Idol.
Name calling is childish and rude.They did it with the kid in glasses and called him Chicken Little.

They are just haters. With her voice, her physical appearance is only secondary. I happen to think she is a beautiful and dignified lady.
