before they are allowed a chance to try anything else or even grow up? The new laws just got passed and what you need to pay attention to is how the numbers of infants and babies in their first year become a part of the psychiatric drug system. Does anyone care about this, these are poisons, not fit for an adult much less a child. Can you please explain this to me in your own words? How can we do this?

I will get back with this some more tomorrow. If you were in the right country and you were involved with mental health or policymaking, since this is in psychology then you would know what I am talking about. I have some opposite information to share with all of you, but I have a life and so that takes time too. Just keep checking if you are and I will explain more.

"What laws are you discussing, do you have a link"
No not exactly, but you can go to state and federal legislative sites and search for this under autism screening and also look at teen screening programs, also you will now commonly see it advertised in newspapers, magazines, and on the tv and radio and it is only going to get worse as it goes. For hundreds of years now we didn't have to search to find things wrong with people, if something was really wrong someone knew it most of the time they said they could not do anything about it because there was a lack of resource and funding in those instances? This is for purposes of finding these babies to treat them with psychotropic drugs and no one can fool me, I know the truth now. Perhaps you all should learn too?

"Since autism is not commonly treated with drugs, what drugs are you talking about?"
I think that you would have to give me your evidence before you could convince me of this. Since this falls under mental illness the drugs that they promote will be used wait and watch and see if you do not believe me, the psychotropic drug use will spike in infants and toddlers!

"How do you give a little baby a pill????
Oh my god, you're right! I would never do that!!!"
What would you do give it to them in liquid form or patches??? This is not funny, our world I think had better wake up soon, this will cause real brain damage to these babies.

"Not all autistic persons are given psychiatric drugs."
Even one baby being found for purposes of drugging them is one too many, this is done because we have some children with real problems and there is not enough resources to help these very few children so innocent people are talked into also labeling their children too and this benefits the drug companies and those pushing and selling the treatments and that is all.

"Parents always have the option of saying "NO"... "
No, parents and many parents do not have the option of saying no and this is part of what is wrong with this, especially poor parents that will be coerced by threats of being a bad parent if they refuse and possibly having their child taken from them for refusal of this. This is part of what is wrong with the system that we have that is suppose to be there to protect and provide for our poor families.
""I do believe that they need to start screening for autism a little better than they do. I had to hound my son's doctor because... I think...screening children would get the help...""
Parents know when something is wrong and like you will ask for the help when it is needed the majority of the time. Since there is really no test for this, it is up to the provider to discover it or not? The question is will the actual right help be there when they ask? Why label it as a disease when it may just be a delay? Why look for this?

These babies are helpless and have done not a thing to anyone, can't you guys get this?
To find them for purposes of treating them with dangerous drugs when they don't even know what causes these delays, and they can be misinterpreted is wrong.
We are destroying the poor people for purposes of the wealthy peoples profit, and this is a scary thing. One day people will see how it has affected them, but that will be too late.
I am not saying that some of these are not real problems and don't need some real and actual assistance, but we need to make sure that the actual assistance is there for the ones that actually do need it and this just doesn't end up taking more away from that because if one looks they can find corruption in so many things and in so many steps of the way.
We must be watchful and careful is all I am asking. These are innocent babies that I am talking about they can not defend themselves that is up to us.

""Medications are sometimes helpful as well"" http://health.yahoo.com/ency/healthwise/hw152184

Professionals and families have found that a combination of approaches may be effective in treating symptoms and behaviors that make it hard for individuals with autism to function. These treatment options may include psychosocial and pharmacological interventions.
While there are no drugs, vitamins or special diets that can correct underlying neurological problems associated with autism, parents and professionals have found that some drugs used for other disorders are sometimes effective in treating some aspects of behaviors associated with autism.

In addition, there are medications appropriate for symptoms that often go along with Asperger syndrome, such as anxiety, depression, and compulsive behavior.

Beyond cognitive therapy, adults with an AS diagnosis have a number of other treatment options. They can request that their diagnostician write a report that clearly outlines diagnostic issues, IQ, and adaptive behaviors. With that report, adults diagnosed with AS can often qualify for services provided by state and/or federal agencies. Such services range from cognitive therapy to vocational training, job placement, health insurance, and, in some cases, housing.

medication is given to help manage behavioral manifestations of the disorder
Antipsychotic drugs: This is the most widely studied group of drugs in autism. These drugs have been found to reduce hyperactivity, repetitive behaviors, withdrawal, and aggression in some people with autism. The newer, atypical antipsychotics, including risperidone (Risperdal), olanzapine (Zyprexa), and quetiapine (Seroquel), have replaced the older, traditional antipsychotics, which had more side effects. Antidepressants: Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are one class of antidepressants that are commonly used to treat people with depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and/or anxiety. In some people with autism, these drugs reduce repetitive behaviors, irritability, tantrums, and aggression. Examples of SSRIs include fluoxetine (Prozac), fluvoxamine (Luvox), sertraline (Zoloft), and paroxetine (Paxil).

Have I provided enough for you? If you need more look up autism treatment. Why are we going to brain damage our babies? Why, Why, Why? Please I beg of you people learn what I have learned, don't just believe people because they say it is so, this is an industry getting rich off of suffering and not wanting to do the right things just because the right things need to be done for people. It is wrong, these babies have not done a thing to anyone! They are innocent! They are helpless!

""It's not fair to assume that because a baby is diagnosed from the screening that psychotropic drugs will follow.""
It's not fair to drug our babies, they are our future, they are helpless, to possibly brain damage them for life and hook them on drugs what is right about that?
Do you realize that the drug control people are now in with NAMI so I must believe that it is all about the mind control and the cravings that can be used in keeping others under control, but what kind of a world is this leading us too?
Now do you really want to talk about what is fair? It's the future of our world!

"Why is autism any different than any other disease?"
Because they have no valid and reliable test or scientific evidence for this it is not like diabetes or other actual diseases and they know it, and they admit it they are starting to do disclaimers which is good, still isn't good enough.

Well I think it is morally wrong to abort a child because you THINK they have a certain disablity. I have known women who were told their babies would be downs syndrome or have other problems and their babies were born perfectly normal. I did not get any of those screenings, the only tests I opt for are the ones that we can do something about either right after delievery or during the pregnancy, otherwise there is no reason to know. I fear that there will be a lot of babies misdiagnosed with autism and mudered because of it. Austism is such a vaugue thing, that it can be mild or very severe, there is no way to know. Many Autistic people can lead full lives. It is sad to me that people think it is ok to decide which human deserve to live and which don't. Sounds to me like people are trying to create the perfect human race, and that is very scary. Isn't that what Hitler wanted? Edit** I have a family member who had conjoined twins, the doctor offered her the option of abortion for at least on of them and she said not at all. The babies were separated within hours of their birth. They struggled and had lots of meds the first two years or so, but now they are perfectly normal 8 year old twins. Nobody would ever know about the struggles they had early in life. If she had it to do over again, she would not change anything. When she found out they were conjoined, she had no idea what their quality of life would be, but she valued their lives enough, that she allowed them to live. They have happy, healthy lives now.

My evidence is the fact that autism is not commonly treated with drugs. It's just not..it is treated with various occupational, behavioral, and speech therapies. Some autistics have related illnesses, anxieties, depressions, and compulsions and so receive drugs for them if they are present, but not for autism. Do a Yahoo search for "autism treatment", ask a pediatrician, ask any parent of a child with autism.
You made the assertion, you need to provide evidence that babies will be given drugs and what drugs you think will be used.

Parents always have the option of saying "NO"... My 3 year old has autism and I wouldn't dream of medicating him. I believe therapy will work much better.
I do believe that they need to start screening for autism a little better than they do. I had to hound my son's doctor because until he was 2 he was "just delayed"... Well he's 3 now and can only say "on" and "no"... He still cannot say mama. I think that with better screening children would get the help that they truely need.

Not all autistic persons are given psychiatric drugs. In general, drugs aren't given unless the person has other issues. They are sometimes given for behavior control. If they are going to screen babies for autism, it is because the sooner it is diagnosed, the sooner treatment can begin - behavioral and developmental treatment, not drugs. The sooner the treatment, the more impact it will have on the baby's development. This is done to help both the parents and the child. It's not fair to assume that because a baby is diagnosed from the screening that psychotropic drugs will follow.

If you (or your child) had diabetes, you'd want to know. If you had a heart problem, you'd want to know. If you could treat it with therapy/diet you would make those changes in your life to be healthy. If you needed drugs you'd take them. If you had a choice of treatments, you'd weigh in on the pros/cons of each one and make the best choice for yourself (or your child). Why is autism any different than any other disease? Information is the best way to make decisions, I am not one to judge anyone's decision.
