First you have to be eating heathy so you can run at all
and then you need to be setting goals for yourself. For example you run a mile @ 8 minutes. Then the next day you would need to beat that time but running under 8 minutes. If you don't make it under 8 minutes then run an extra lap for punishment. Just keep on pushing yourself.
PS: use your arms!!!

Plyometrics.
Position specific training.
Stretch, yoga, intensive weight training for football, i.e, power cleans, explosive squats, and form running.
Bunch of good books at the library, pick one you like and remember if you see measurable quickness increases in under a month, you are doing fantastic.

I'd recommend interval training. Sprint a lap, jog a lap, then walk a lap and repeat. worked for me in track and cross country. You'll be able to run faster and longer.
Don't listen to the member who said to pump your arms. In track they taught me that pumping your arms is wasting energy. Real runners let their arms go mostly limp, I know it looks weird, but it works.

work them calves and hamstrings, bro. pull a tire during sprinting. anything to make regular running more difficult. obviously, one day doesn't make a pro. parachutes help. find yourself a routine and a partner and stay motivated. no one likes going out and running aimlessly. keep finding new ways to make it tougher and more fun, but most importantly, stick with it

Speed is all about explosiveness. You should try exercises that focus on that. Try explosive jumping and work in stairs, also stretch alot.
