I am thinking of creating my own t'shirt based on the musical West Side Story, but am struggling to make a decision on the wording used. Can anyone who knows the musical make any suggestions for something unique and suitable?

Are you looking for a phrase from the script?

There are many great ones in the songs...

"There's a place for us" is used a bit
"You are set with a capital J"
"Very big deal in America"
"Breeze it, buzz it, easy does it"
"Now it begins, now we start, one hand, one heart"
"Your love is your life"

I think "It's only just out of reach" sums up the show nicely, in that the "somewhere" that the characters want is "only just out of reach."

I'm also fond of the question the show comes down to: "How many bullets are left? Enough for you?" if you want to have an added dimension about the violence that still surrounds us.

Use a quote :-) depending on what mood you're in or what message you want to send.

Maria "I feel pretty..."
Riff "Boy am I a victim of disappointment in you"
Riff "When you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way! from you first cigarette your last dyin' days."
Anita "Ah, I'm an American girl now, I don't wait."
Maria "Loving is enough"
Anita "We won't bite you until we know you better"
Maria "Hold my hand and we are halfway there, hold my hand and I'll take you there. Somehow! Someday!"
Action "What are we doin', poopin' around with dumb broads for?"
A-RAB "You ain't never gonna get married. Too ugly"
A-RAB "Cracko Jacko! Down goes a teenage hoodlum."
Lieutenant Schrank "All right, wise guys. Now you listen to me"
You could put a pic of the all the guys "Hello officer Krupke!"
There's plenty more, I'm sure... can you look up the script?

Good luck!

"Somewhere a place for us" or "Someday a place for us" from one of the songs in the play production of "West Side Story" might be good. It's a song of hope for those in an interracial relationship.
