While chatting with friends the other day one of them described something as being a buttload...I have used this phrase many times myself, yet couldn't help but ask...
What exactly is a buttload, and how many gerbils does that equal? More importantly who decided what it was and how many of what object constituted a buttload? Did some dude sit around one day shoving various objects in there and then decide that at some point it was full and therefore a buttload? Sorry I couldn't help myself.

Since a "Butt" is an old English unit of wine volume which equals 162 US gallons, it would stand to reason that a "buttload' would be the amount you could put into a butt. Bear in mind that a butt of beer is 192 gallons. Either way, it is a whole lot of stuff.

I think tht the phrase should be used by people that work out and try to become skinny. If they used to have a big butt than they know that it is bad(right). So if pressure gets put on them, they prbbly say that it is a buttload because it isnt cool to have a big butt. i just kinda guessed.

Gerbils have nothing to do with the measurement of volume "butt-load"!! Do your research next time. The exact definition of butt-load is the amount of red, seedless grapes that can be inserted into a certain orifice and still allow the bi pod to stand up straight.

You kids, I'm beginning to wonder what you were listening to when you should have been studying. That darn polka music!!!!
