I'm pretty sure the Appalachian Trail is the longest hiking trail, and I know horses are allowed on at least part of it, but I don't know if the whole thing is open to horses. It's 2175 miles long.
There was a beautiful one I used to ride in Southern California called the Skyline Trail. It wasn't REALLY long, but there was talk of eventually connecting a bunch of mountain ridge trails all along the length of California. Don't know how that's going...

I don't know if it's the longest but Pennsylvania's Horse-Shoe Trail seems awesome. 141 miles, elevation range is from 350-1,700, 20 degerees in Jan. and 90 in July, wildlife, it's free, 100% for horses, and you even receive a certificate of achievement when completed. It's on my list of things to do!!!!

Oh my!! The longest trail that horses I am told are allowed on is the trail from Canada to the Mexican boarder!
I have always wanted to go on it, then life took over.....

I know the Colorado Trail is pretty long and I think it ties in with some trails in Wyo and NM. I'm curious so I'll check back.

I believe it's the Pacific trail that runs from Canada to Mexico. I had a friend that actually rode it the whole way as a memorial to his son.
