Not at all! When I was very young, back in the 50's, we learned about communist Russia and other countries. Teachers would constantly teach how we are far better off living in the United States because our country did not practice propaganda. The definition they gave for propaganda was that the newspapers and news media in countries like Russia only reported the lies that the government wanted you to hear.
Well, here in the good ol' USA, that is exactly what the newspapers and media does today. Not to mention that they opinionize the news to try and sway people to think like they do. For example, how many of you have heard that over 3000 American soldiers have died in Iraq in the 5 years during the war? If you read or listen to the news, you have probably heard this. Now, how many of you have heard that over 5000 US citizens die every year at the hands of illegal immigrants? Haven't heard that? It's true! That's just one example of how the news media tries to control your thoughts. Being in Iraq is wrong, but allowing illegal immigration is okay.

I accept some sources more quickly than others. Whenever I hear something on the news, I look for other sources reporting the same facts. I do my own research, and I examine the details. More often than not, I find that most print and broadcast media provides the facts, even if they're sometimes slanted slightly left or right. Hell, I can watch The Daily Show and get the facts. They're just presented in the form of a joke and running commentary. If I see a story come across the AP wire, I'm very confident that it's accurate. Same goes for copy from the New York Times and other established companies. On the other hand, I rarely believe anything I read on the blogs, or message boards or other sources of reader-created news.

No. If anyone believes everthing the media tells them, then they have no sense of reality. The media will twist anything for a good story. The media already controls our country please don't listen to it. Look, the truth is the media takes pleasure in ruining peoples lives by taking every mistake that can be blown out of proportion and showing the world something else. I mean no offense to everyday reporters but the reporters that are well known and that report on "scandals" and stuff like that have no life so they have to mess someone else up.

Considering that the different members of the media contradict one another, you can't believe everything they say. So I just simply watch Fox News. Whatever they say, I know the opposite is probably true. :-P
Seriously, the media gets its information from somewhere. Listen to what they say. Compare. And verify the sources and information. You can usually weed out the crap and find the truth if you do.

When the media tells me something happened, I believe that. The hard part is separating the spin they put on the story from the facts of the story. I don't believe the spin.

I think the media reports what the public wants to hear. It may be true, but they also may leave out important details. Papers like the ones found at the grocery store stands, are just a bunch of junk. I never read them because it's so fake. Sometimes, I think they add their own opinions to their reports but don't tell the public it's their opinions. You never know who to really be believe any more.

well in america the media is controlled by a certain group of people so pretty much if you are watching fox, cbs, nbc, abc, etc. and you believe that stuff your are being brain washed by the group of people who control the amercan media. what you need to do is watch new from many different sources (bbc, cnn, etc.) and compare what each is saying then draw your own conclusion. for those of you that do now know who controls the american media you are extremely oblivious. if you want to know ask the question and i'll anwer it... a clue the first letter in the name of there ethnicity is "J"

The media is the mouthpiece of the people n the happenings around. n each specific media voices its observation/ opinion of the circumstances. Its for us to study the report of the various media n come to a meaningful conclusion.... instead of depending on one n swallowing it.... hook, line n sinker....

Many gullible people do. For example, the lies the TV noise channels are currently spreading about Ron Paul are believed by many people with IQs below 50 and others who are delusional. Somebody has to be pretty dumb to equate what he said at the debates to "supporting terrorists." Nobody accuses people who suggest that criminals might have a motive and not just be evil people of "supporting criminals."
The only sources that can be trusted as credible is the Internet. You are guaranteed to be misinformed if you read those propaganda rags we call newspapers or watch those fake shows we call the news. If it comes from the main$tream media, it simply should not be trusted because most of the main$tream media doesn't tell the truth or even come close to it.

no,of course.it is like putting ur hand in fire.
it is clear that media do present everything so saucy that real thing is covered and real problem is remained unsolved.i think media has and play very important role in society but failed to play up to mark.reasons can be anything politicians, big powers.
not only them but even us we don't want to listen truth.people r more interested or i should say used to read and hear things extra materials.we r called big democracy in the world but only in this democracy media is used by the big powers for their own personal interest.
our freedom fighter used paper n magazine for freedom. they believe that pen has more power than sward but today's society n generation is making one of the medium of income n two min fame.it is shame.media of today is biased against truth.it is becoming kind of industry now rather than a religion and weapon it used to be before.
no sorry i dint believe in everything what our media present today.i m no saying that media is not good .it do somethings really good but the level of our faith and trust in media has downfall rather than growing.
