Happy Birthday and welcome back to the hobby!

I'm going to give you a few links that will really help you get on the way to a healthy and happy tank.

The first is a basic guide to aquariums. Read through the first page as well as the several pages after concerning cycling your tank etc. It's not long and will be well worth your time:

Here's a few links that are specific to keeping goldfish:

Hope this helps

Don't keep goldfish in bowls, if you were planning on doing so.

Fancy goldfish need a minimum of ten gallons to thrive.

Common/comet goldfish should have at least 20 gallons.

You'll need a filtration system that filters at least 100gph for every 10gallons. Goldfish should be fine without heaters.

They can be fed many types of commercial goldfish food. Sinking food is best because goldfish are prone to Swim Bladder Disorders.

Start with at least 20 gallon aquarium, better yet, a 29 so you can have two. These fish need to socialize. Get a proper filter for the tank.

A minimum of 20 gallons all to himself.

Feed twice a day, and change the water once every 2-3 weeks.

Oh, and get a really good filter.

hi! i just want to add goldies are lovely creatures that need lots of room, good nutrition, clean clean water! cant stress that enough. you should pick up a test kit and atleast test your water once or twice weekly. also make sure to do your water changes weekly. goldies do not need heater they thrive well in cooler temps. first thing you need to do is cycle your tank. your fish may not be able to survive the nitrite, nitrate, ammonia spikes that happen during the cycling process. feeding your goldies can be a fun and messy time!(LOL) you can feed them several times daily just small amounts. some foods that they can eat are flakes(i like to give mine omega one brand) sinking pellets, fresh fruit, vegetables, egg whites, brine shrimp, blood worms, peas, i make mine gel food also) theres alot out there to feed them. just remember those water changes since they are big waste producers. and dont over feed. good luck with your new fish!
