Hi my husband and i are trying to have a baby. My mom died when i was very young so she didnt get to explain Pms or anything on that line. I found out on my own. What i don't know is how to tell if you are ovulating and when is the best time to try. I have a thyroid problem so i dont have my period every month it just varies. Can you get pregnant without having a period? Please help. Thank you.

I also have a thyroid problem and you need to go see your obgyn because they may need to put you on clomid to help you ovulate- That is what they did with me becuase due to my medication i didn't ovulate! Good luck on getting your little one!!

Well I can tell when I'm ovulating because I will have thin cervical mucus ( i know it sounds gross) during the day. This is a sign of ovulating. Also taking your Basal Body temperature the very first thing in the morning is also an indicator for ovulation. If it's slightly high, then it may mean you are ovulating. You also might want to invest in a ovulation predictor kit sold over the counter at drugstores. Ive never used them, but I've heard they are pretty reliable for testing for ovulation. Good Luck!

If you go to babycenter.com they have an ovulation calculator there. Just type it in at the search area. You can definately get prego w/o having a period. It is just a bit harder to tell when you are ovulating. There are kits you can get at any pharmacy that can help you along. I know that your temperature changes when you are ovulating. Thats about it :)
Good luck!

The best thing you can do is make a preconception appointment with an OBGYN. You can tell hime or her aboutyour plans to start TTC, and your concerns about timing intercourse and etc. he may want to put you on some medication to help regulate your period, or ovulation each month.

Good luck!!

Personally I would suggest you get the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. Start charting your basal body temp and because of they thyroid issue you should talk with your doctor.
I hope your journey trying to conceive is a short one!

talk to an ob/gyn about these issues, and get started on prenatals before you have a baby. Good luck
