I already know that I am pregnant but on my lab results it says my hcg is 86,300. I already know that hcg is what pregnancy tests are supposed to find but why is my number so high?

The amount of the hcg hormone is measured to check if the pregnancy is viable. When you are pregnant, your hcg level doubles about every 2-3 days. The level tapers off around the end of your first trimester. Sometimes levels are also checked to see if there is a possibility of twins. Higher levels of hcg could indicate possible multiple births.

I looked at this link for normal hCG levels. You must be at least 8 weeks pregnant. This site also has a comparison you can use if they have tested your hCG levels more than one. Just click on the hcg calculator. The second link is from the same site (I like babymed.com). It shows a chart for the probability of having twins. You need to count the number of days after ovulation to when your blood was drawn. Best of luck!!!!

According to "average normal hcg levels in pregnancy" you are in your 3rd trimester which averages at 3640 to 117,000 . Unless you are carrying twins, then you are more like 45 days since your LMP.

hcg doubles evey day for the first few weeks of pregnancy, it may mean you are farther along or you are carrying twins.
