Those cities would be Tokyo, with 23 special wards population of 8.5 million, Kawasaki with 1.3 million, Yokohama with 3.6 million, and Chiba to the east with 0.9 million. However, the megaloplis of the Greater Tokyo Area consists of the 4 Japanese prefectures of Chiba, Kanagawa, Saitama, and Tokyo for a grand total of 35.2 million people making it the world's most populous metropolitan area. According to wikipedia it has 27 cities with 200,000 people or more, 17 cities with at least 300,000 people, and 8 with over 500,000 people, and the only city in the world to have a suburb (Yokohama) with more than 3 million people.
