i cant find much info on volumetric displays of the type im looking for. holodust looks good but there is next to no information on it, where could i find more? i looking at true 3d mid-air displays of the sort you could touch, so not heliodisplay.

Try the page below for a simulation demo and basic explanation. The logic behind the display is
(a) A continuous air/ dust suspension is created.
(b) An invisible infrared (IR) laser scans the volume of the suspension looking for particles in its path.
(c) Each hit is analyzed to determine the particle's position. If the position is a point in the 3-D model to be displayed, a second, visible laser that follows the same path as the IR laser briefly illuminates the particle.
(d) Obviously, this process must be done at very high repetition rates to produce an image that looks coherent.
