First of all, LOVE the St. Louis Zoo. I used to go all the time as a kid!
I would take a bag with:
--Ipod and headphones
--book
--camera
--water/snack/gum
--small pack of wet wipes (in case your hands get nasty or something on the bus--these are handy!)
--cell phone
--wallet (have a little cash for eating at the zoo or whatever)
--sunglasses/sunscreen

Have a great time. I'm jealous:)

I would bring:

A few Water Bottles

Personal Hygiene Items ( Hand Sanitizer, Wet Wipes, Mints, etc.)

An IPod or CD Player with a few CD's to listen to

Make-up (Brush, Lip-gloss, comb, etc.)

A few magazines or books

Cell Phone (Emergency or Socializing uses)

About twenty dollars of cash for snacks when the bus takes breaks and for pay phones (if you don't have a cell phone)

Hope this helps, have fun!

My first choice would be an MP3 player cuz i'm a big music fan. That normally gets me thru any long trip. Or if you've got money to spend you can buy one of those portable DVD players. And of course there's always good old sleep, but I guess you might wanna save that for the return trip. Anyways, have fun^^

Bring some water, some snacks that are easy to carry.
Some music if you an ipod with earphones, or even if you have a walkman of some sorts.

A good book some magazines, maybe a crossword puzzle or something like that.

Have fun

An ipod or mp3 player. Maybe a gameboy advance or some other portable game. A book would be good if you don't get headaches while reading and traveling in a moving vehicle.

I have no idea about what to bring but I can tell you from experience. Anything loaded ( checked in) when you switch busses should be verified by YOU in the transfer. My step daughter lost her bagage and they have told us it could take up to 3 months (90) days for them to SEARCH not find the lost items you entrusted them with! We're 2 weeks and awaiting word for a bag that has some items that can't be replaced. Please please keep an eye on you stuff because they DO NOT CARE if they're misplaced!

That's a long trip. Are you sure you want to sit in a bus for 8 hours? How long do you get to be at the zoo? Doesn't seem worth the back pain and leg cramps to me.
