ARod. He has always been an elite fantasy player and this year he is heads above all. If you cant find a reason to draft him then the only other choice that would make sense with the 1st overall pick would be Jose Reyes. Either would be a great pick, any other choice would be foolish. Plus both start at positions that are very weak past the top 5 or 6 SS or 3rd basemen fantasy wise. Personally i would take the massive power and RBI but Reyes could be a 100 runs scored, 100 rbi and 60 SB guy so plan out a draft stratagy that could cover either scenario.

Jose Reyes!!!

He'll get you an avg. of .330, possibly 60-90 sb's (since he had 19 sb's in April alone and has 23 stolen bases on the season), 15-20 HRs, 115-125 runs and 90-110 RBI's. A-Rod is slowing down. He'll still have 45 HR's and 130 RBI's and 100 Runs and 15-20 SB's but his avg will be .280 or so. Jose Reyes is your man to draft!

It really depends on the number of teams, H2H vs roto, keeper vs this year only, etc.

Multiple teams - Go with proven talent. Although some people's stats are down right now, they usually gravitate toward career stats.
Small league - Go with best player regardless of position for the first few picks and fill in the gaps later.

H2H - Put a slightly higher premium on pitching and contending teams as they will play their best toward the end of the season, which is your playoffs.
Roto - Get the best consistent player, usually offense first.

Keeper - Take a few late round picks on young up and comers
This year only - You're drafting well into the season so go with who's doing well.
