There are more than enough gun control laws in the U.S. What we need is better enforcement. People should undergo extensive background checks prior to recieving a weapon. Also, get rid of assault rifles, they are useless for home defense and for hunting (except for humans).

NO. Gun control laws are a way for politicians to posture about "law and order" while adding to our governmental paperwork problem and harassing legitimate users. They give the police no tools that don't already exist with the myriad of existing gun laws. They have never been shown to be effective in preventing either crime or accidental deaths.
The single gun law that I would like to see - which doesn't have a political chance in Hades - would be for mandatory firearms safety classes in grade school.

Yes,Yes. Some people are saying guns not killing people, or they are saying everybody buying gun they need to get check the back rounds all that.
If you don't have a gun, you can't kill nobody, and if you get a gun because the back round check saying you are good guy, and you turn one day crazy and killing some people, and than what? Like in Virginia Tech. Also I think it is crazy having gun, for what? Civilization in US and every household having gun, look like in Iraq, the people are having gun everywhere there too, this need to clean on first place too.
I know, I remember some people by Yahoo Answers after this stuff was happened in VA Tech. this people was saying I don't want to give my gun and my Bible nowhere. Fun "Bible and Gun" what a combination.

A government scientific study started by the Clinton administration, no friend to gun owners, was unable to find any evidence at all that any gun law had any effect measurable on crime rates. That included the total bans on handguns in places like DC and suburbs of Chicago. Gun laws put a burden on law abiding people who have no inclination or desire to use them irresponsibly. They have no effect on criminals, who don't buy their firearms legally anyway.

We don't need more gun control laws in this country. What we need is better enforcement of the gun control laws we already have. Besides, in my not so humble opinion, what are we doing with restrictive gun laws in a country whose constitution guarantees the right 'to bear arms', as a basic priviledge of citizenship?

when you you people LEARN? the ONLY people that obey the law are the honest ones? criminals don't care, their already breaking the law. gun control is nothing more then the government disarming the honest citizens. the government could care less about the crooks having guns, it;s the honest ones their scared of because a disarmed population is a enslaved population. if you doubt that, look at Russia, china, Iraq ww2 Germany etc. etc.

I really have a hard time understanding how people can seriously wonder about this. Is it really that hard to understand that CRIMINALS DON'T OBEY LAWS? In 2004 there were more people killed by drunk drivers than there were in gun related homocides. There are extremely specific laws against drunk driving, what good did they do?

Gun control laws only restrict people who respect the rule of law. Criminals, by definition, don't. What impact would more gun laws have on a criminal?

There are so many as it is. Most gun crimes involve breaking gun laws, so adding a few more won't stop them, they will just add laws to our system that criminals break.
