I did have some pretty bad food poisioning when I was 36 weeks or so from some fully cooked (actually was overcookded and dry) salmon. I was laid up for a day and a half and baby is fine.
If cooked food can do that to me then I I guess it doesn't matter raw or cooked

It's fine to eat sushi when you're pregnant as long as any raw fish used to make it has been frozen beforehand. This is because occasionally fish contains small worms, which could make you ill if they are still alive when you eat the fish. Freezing kills worms and makes raw fish safe to eat.
Some types of sushi, such as California rolls (which contain steamed crab) and cooked eel, are fine to eat while you're pregnant. But it's best to avoid eating the kinds that contain raw seafood, such as tuna.
In both the United States and Japan, many more people get sick from eating fish served at home than from eating fish at sushi restaurants.
There are many sushi varieties which don't contain raw fish.
1) Unagi Sushi/Nigiri - cooked eel
2) Anago - sea eel
3) Kappa Maki - Cucumber sushi roll
4) Kanpyo Maki - some pickled vegetable roll.
5) Shitake Sushi - Japanese mushroom on top of sushi
6) Tempura Prawn Maki - Cooked.
7) Seafood Stick Maki or add Avocado and Mayonnaise and Cucumber to make California roll. Make sure they don't put raw flying fish roe into it though.
8) Spider Roll Maki - soft shell crab deep fried. Not traditionally Japanese but cooked by most Japanese chefs outside Japan. I think its becoming popular back in Japan though with the Rainbow Rolls going on.
9) Futomaki - variety of vegetables pickled and non-pickled, eggs, mushroom, etc. This is a great roll.
10) Egg Tamago sushi
Go and enjoy yourself
Good luck

The chances you will get food poisoning from eating sushi is pretty slim. However, once you get it, there's no turning back. To be on the safe side, I would refrain or only eat the sushi that is cooked (such as california rolls).
The question at this point is... do you want to endanger your pregnancy given the chance of a bad event happening is very small? That is up to you.

after 8 and a half months of no tuna sandwiches i finally gave in, i couldnt take it any longer and had the same theroy as you, the baby is fully developed and at this point your pretty safe. however i later found out your baby could have an allergic reaction to it, due to that fact that it has never been in your of their system. chances are youre fine, i would just be extra careful of raw fish and hold out if you can.

Go out and eat. Stay away from the wasabi. Whatever day you go into labor they won't give you any food to eat at the hospital befor you give birth. And after you give birth your diet will be restricted until you have a bowel movement. So enjoy your sushi.

Go for it! The dangers of eating certain foods have been way over exagerated.... The chances of getting in a car accident while pregnant are way higher than you having a reaction to food such as sushi or feta cheese... and most women don't stop driving while pregnant..... Have fun! You wont get to go out for a while after the baby comes!

eat what you want, but remember, digestion shuts down during labor. I had a big dinner out the night I went into labor and threw it all up at the hospital! It was gross...

I wouldn't risk it. The baby is still getting all it's nutrients from you even if it is fully formed. If you were to get sick, it could make the baby sick too. Don't take a chance. It sounds like you are close enought where you could wait it out.

Sushi should be avoided until you deliver. It is better safe than sorry, your baby still eats whatever you eat so if something does go bad it can effect your baby.
