You could encrypt the whole drive with a free program called TrueCrypt. It may be free, but if the drive fails as mentioned above, the help service is not going to be able to get that drive working again.

Or, download Tweakui for XP, or any other Windows OS your using, and you can select a drive to not show in My Computer or Explorer. Look on the right hand side of this site for the download.

Both been around for a while, I would not recommend free ones, reason is simple, should teh drive fail, the free ones is not going to give much support.

all you have to do is right click on the drive, chose properties, and hide it. then go into folder options, and click view hidden files. your drive has now disappeared from every other user except you. assuming that is that you don't let anyone else use your user account
