Why do people get mad when someone forgets to say thank you?

In my opinion you don't "forget" to say thank you. It's an automatic response if you have good manners. So if you don't say it I consider that to be rude, and impolite.

I don't get angry. I would just consider the person to be very discourteous. ☺

Because people want to feel appreciated. Saying thank you is a way to convey that. Now days they aren't taught any of the old ways such as manners and ethics. I'm 49 and still say yes mam and no mam or yes sir..I say thank you as well. I believe we should show each other respect as well.Treat people the way you want to be treated.I dont get mad but it does sadden me that young people are not being taught these days.

I'm not exactly mad when no thanks is given, but I do feel sad, especially if the gift was something handmade, like a quilt. I always hope the recipient of a special gift might consider the thought, effort, even love that went into making it.

I believe some people become annoyed when not acknowledged for their deeds;reasonable expectations of good manners.Simply put,"thank you "is a sign of respect,which is what manners are all about,:) myself,I consider the source and my expectations ,rather than be upset too much. :) ty.

No, it really does not bother me. I know some people, don't have any manners, so I figure that person is someone who doesn't have manners. Have a good weekend.

Because it's polite to say thank you. I don't get mad when people don't say it to me; if I do something nice I do it because I want to, not because I expect thanks.
