one of them now has a very swollen tummy and on either side of tummy there are 2 lumps sticking out almost like something is growing out? any ideas

That sounds like either an internal infection or a tumor. You can try treatment with a good antibiotic such as Furanace and medication antibiotic fish food for 2 weeks. If the lumps get smaller or go away then the problem is solved. If they don't it's probably a tumor and there is nothing you can do for the fish if that is the case.

It sounds like a tumor, constipation, or dropsy. Are the scales sticking out at all? If not, try feeding a pea without the skin to the goldfish in question. It should act as a laxative.

I had a large goldfish (Jaws) for 5 years that had the same thing. They were tumors. He eventually passed away.

Are they in atleast a 150 gallon tank? Proibly overcrowded, And maybe it could be females developing eggs?
