Lately, all movies are remakes from others (like Poseidon, The Omen, Superman) or sequels that are only made for money (You can see it in The Matrix, Spiderman or the Pirates...) Which movie do you think is the worst in history?? And which one do you think is the last good one?

Hollywood is doing what they can to reinvent themselves
remember there are so so many movies
out there
from cable to satellite and watching movies online

and people putting new releases online

Hollywood has to crank out all types of movies good and bad
just to keep the money coming in.

The old movie theater isn't the only way to see movies
and Hollywood knows this
Why do you think all types of Drive-in theaters closed up

There are still plenty of good movies being made
not all of them from the Hollywood machine

I remember years ago
it used to take forever for a movie to be released
on tape or even now on dvd

now its almost instant to come out on dvd

people don't have to run out to the theaters anymore

releasing dvd's with extra features and bonus content
might save hollywood some time

But they need better avenues of making movies
and getting them to the consumer

Record companies have learned that the hard way
now look how Itunes is making money not even selling
cd's at all

even tho people will always be able to download
music and movies for free
at least the record companies can see money can be made
from the downloads by consumers
might save H

Actually, remakes have been around since the first decade of moving making. Countless movies in the 1930s were remakes of silent films. Countless movies in the 40s and 50s were remakes of movies in the 30s. "His Girl Friday" was a remake of the play and film "The Front Page." "The Maltese Falcon" was the SECOND remake of the same story. It continues from there.

Sequels were common, too. How else do you explain all the "Thin Man" movies? Three "Godfathers?" Nothing has changed. Does that makes you wrong about the quality of movies today? No, not really. But the basic concept of what Hollywood does and how they decide what movies to make is the same now as when they first started. It is all about making money.

I used to go a lot more often. Now, the best stuff is either foreign or indy. I think most adults think the same way. I mean, there's nothing I have felt compelled to see in the movie theater for ages. And that's a shame, for I really love movies.
