Perhaps your character was on a close family member's parent/grandparent/sibling) deathbed. This family member was dying and told your character something that he didn't know about himself or family...*shrug* maybe ?? :)

Then her mom gets news...she is being transferred because of her job..they will be moving more than 34 hours away! When the girl and boy find out that their time together really is limited..they think twice about their lives and what to do with the time they have left with each other.!!! this just so happens to be the situation im dealing with currently!

Forget the near-death experience. Those are a dime a dozen. Everybody nearly dies every day. Have him get fired for smoking crack at his lifeguard job, and a few weeks later, while he's all hopeless and forlorn standing in line at the soup kitchen, have him fall in love with the lady serving the slop to society's rejects. There are a zillion ways to go. She could be an ex-convict who had served time for baking hash brownies to serve at the local high school, which was where she got the pot to begin with.
I'll let you go from there, but you have to consider that she may be an undercover operative working for a south american drug cartel who want the crack-smoking lifeguard to die, because when he was honeymooning in Rio, he hooked up with the daughter of the leader of the cartel, and she wound up p[regnant, so Guido--or whatever you name him, kidnapped newlywed bride but she was saved after the brand new husband won her back in a game of checkers.
Anyway, you'll have to go from there, but don't forget to include the details of the time the slop-serving lunchlady saved the lifeguard when she was babysitting him when she was in high school and he was an infant.

How about a short person with low self esteem who experienced a tragic situation and is having difficulty rising above it until he meets a very confident Little Person. I believe that is the politically correct term for them. This person was a wealth of optimisim and love and humor and embraces life with joy and turns the person with low self esteem around.

First kiss. First love. First heartbreak. First experience with death. First betrayal. First child. Doing something very stupid and getting caught. There are a lot of life changing experiences one goes through, your alive aren’t you, use your own life. I don’t see how this is hard.

He was pushed down a flight of stairs, doused with gasoline, given a cupcake to eat, and set alight?
I do it every day.
