Once and a while a movie will be made that does reflect real American life, but few people go to see these movies.
Most people go to movies to be entertained and that's why Spiderman3 is such a hit.
.
If you ever get the chance rent
"The Grapes of Wrath", possibly the best movie ever made about the common people in America, abet in 1930.
or
"Christmas Story", possibly the best movie made about growing up in America during the 1950's. (and the funniest!)

The diversity of people and wealth in this country is really hard to represent perfectly on screen, but I would say that most movies depict types of people that DO exist in America.

I'm not sure, I want to say yes but when I think about some of the great movies I think I want to say it might be more of an ideal we want to represent.
Good question.

you said "American"--so the answer is yes.
if you had said "Hollywood," i would have said no.
what people don't seem to realize is that there are tons of "American" films that aren't big budget productions; many are indie films and i think they have a clearer take on being representative of American life than most of the Hollywood stuff.

No because in MOST movies the characteres are very wealthy, have huge, beautiful houses, and brand new cars. Not everyone in America lives like that.

No, it never seems like the people in the movies have maoney problems. I think that does not reflect well on our economy. More and more people are making less and less money.

The Patriot, or Miracle. i might want to finally end up going with the patriot, because Hockey is better of a Canadian pastime regrettably. They both characterize the devotion and backbone of robust individuals. >>>>>>>John D, once you've a situation with individuals, then stay far flung from this united states of america, because it truly is glaring that you do not need to stay the following.
