Has anyone been through a eptopic pregnancy? What does it feel like? Are you out of work for any length of time? Can you still have children after the procedure is done?

I am not certain I am pregnant but I go today for the blood test. I am concerned because I have all the signs of being pregnant (I feel the same way I did when I was pregnant with my son) but am showing negative on the at home tests. Someone please help settle my nerves. I am so nervous and scared!

I had an eptopic pregnancy last April and am living proof that you can have a baby after it. (we now have a 10 mos old son). With an eptopic pregnancy it is possible for the at home tests to come up negative, it did for me that's why I never knew I was having an eptopic pregnancy until 4 weeks down the road. I had NO idea the slight cramps I was having were something to be alarmed about because they came and went every now and then...I now take precautions on everything trust me. With the cramps I had I went to my OBGYN and stressed my concerns but was told everything was fine and everything wasn't. The more I waited the more intense the pains got and eventually stopped me dead in my standing position. IT's a pain you can't describe. At that point I told my work I needed to leave and go to the Dr's. Blood test confirmed I was pregnant...concern on the occasional spotting I had been having an ultrasound to confirm what was thought. I missed a week of work for emotional reasons and for treatments of the eptopic. Go and get the blood tests done to settle your nerves.

maybe you're just stressing. Eptopic pregnancy usually occurs with painful cramps and bleeding. And you can definately become pregnant again after having a eptopic pregnancy. It's just like having a miscarriage. But I would wait for 6 months-1 year to start trying again that's all. Goodluck to you.

My friend had an eptopic a few yrs ago, she was out of work for a week, but recovered quickly. You can go on to have more babies, so don't worry. Soem women don't produce enough hormone early in pregnacy so tests don't show positive right away (it took a week or two for me to show on a test) Good luck.

yes...i just had one in January. I had to go to the emergency room because i was cramping and bleeding. It is somewhat scary, but you will be fine. They did many tests on me (blood work, ultrasound, vaginal exam) and when they confirmed it was ectopic i went in for two injections. The injections do hurt for a while but there was no surgery. You should be fine with having kids in the future. Good luck!

If you are preg the test would be postive. With eptopic preg. you would be in a lot of pain.
