Completely normal. I nursed my oldest for 8 months and I felt nothing in my breasts after that....until I got my nipples pierced, WOW! THEY'RE BACK!!!

After breast-feeding 3 I can honestly say that I never lost the feeling in my nipples.
1ST Baby: 9 MO
2ND Baby: 4 MO
3RD Baby: 7 MO
It was always mind over matter. If you don't mind that a tiny human is going to sustain life by sucking on your nipples, making them sore, chapped, sensitive to air and then tough enough to handle it; then it don't matter.
It's a mind over matter issue for me. I would mentaly block out the fact that I felt anything if the baby was eating, or any of the other effects occured.
On the other hand when it was time for the hubby to want to play I felt everything.
Good luck and don't give up hope, there's always going to be nerve endings in your nipples. Nursing does not kill them, only aggitates them for a while.

I've never breastfed (or had a kid...yet... I'm 7 weeks now!), but I agree with Nadie. My nipples have NEVER been sensitive, until I got them pierced! Unfortunately, I had to take them out because they hurt badly after I became pregnant.
The reason your nipples aren't sensitive anymore is obviously because the nerve endings in your nipples are damaged. It takes a lot of time to regrow nerves and such. So, the sensitivity may come back, but not right away!

Actually I have the opposite experience. My baby is 6 months old, I nursed/pumped for 3 months. My nipples are way more sensitive than ever before. So much that I can't even stand to have my husband touch them unless we're already in the middle of having sex.

Give it some time and they should become sensitive to touch again. If not try those vibrating nipple clamps. You may fall in love with the naughtiness of them or you may not. Just a thought.

After nursing 2 babies myself, my husband could try and tune into Europe on these things and I wouldn't feel a thing. Now put some teeth to them, that I can feel. thats why we stopped breastfeeding!

I'm still breastfeeding, its been 10 wks. I can't feel any moderate to rough foreplay with them, but I definitely feel the lighter touches.
