I don't agree at all! I think kids know much more than they should at very young ages. That said, problems many times start from home. As families we are failing horribly.

Some studies will tell you that teenagers still have brain developement going on. That they are still stuck in the'no consequences for my actions' part of developement. you don't need a 'study' to know that. The parents are either too busy, too blind, or too niaeve(ny eve-get it?) to know about thier own kids. They are getting credit cards at 9, you as a parent are suppose to pay them with credit dollars for their credit card! The whole idea that as a parent your suppose to be thier friend, and not a respected authoritative person, is just one reason these kids are so warped about reality.
The school system is raising these kids, and what is the first budget that gets cut? The school system. Parents give these kids little to no time, but lots of unsupervised TV, and everything they want. XBox, car, credit card. What about time, education, training for life, a JOB? I have a 4 year old and do you know how hard it is to find something that we as a family can watch on TV? If the programis ok, well then its the commercials, bras, underwear, feminine everything, kissing all that, I have to answers for. Imagine a kid who doesn't have a parent there to answer questions or just turn off the set.
I need to stop now, I just get angry---really good question though.

There are some folks who think sex ed should not be taught in school, that the family wants to handle. These are the same parents who live in the 40's & 50's about sex. There is a line about this whole church & state crap. If kids cannot learn about sex at home, then the school nurse, anatomy or counselors need to be able to step in and explain the way it is. Don't forget the parents who just let the TV explain it all.
Gee, wonder why kids today are so screwed up. Either people need to be prepared to handle being parents and all the responsibilties that goes along with it or keep it in your pants.

I think definitely the combination of the education that is offered and the fact that parents don't take the time to talk to their kids about sex. As far as a 15-year-old trying to get pregnant, they're looking for someone to love them, whether it be the baby or the father, because they aren't getting the love and attention they need at home. It's scary how "acceptable" this has become.

parents are too self absorbed to talk to kids about sex, I knew where babies came from when I was 5 yrs old, no stork or cabbage patch. I am teaching my son the same way.
Abstinence only is a joke. Kids need to be prepared for real life, not some 1950's ideal where everyone waits until they are married to have sex and then have 8 kids.

you're an outstanding individual. some different person had an theory resembling yours about doing away with money, he wanting to allow the authorities distribute each thing both. He became Karl Marx, the author of Communism. He needed the international to grow to be a utopia and concept it would want to be a sturdy theory to furnish a lot of skill to three individual human beings. He forgot that skill corrupts human beings. Communism appeared large on paper, although the authorities became corrupt and then it confirmed its authentic colours. Humanity for some reason corrupts thanks to completely. It fairly has to do with the way you're raised, although the ingredient that corrupts human beings the most is money and skill. considering that each body is diverse, there'll by no potential be international peace. I hate to assert there might want to by no potential be international peace ever contained in the destiny. likely the international will end for the period of a conflict and we are able to finally end up blowing the finished international up. you've an outstanding coronary heart. you are able to make the international a better perfect position by technique of helping human beings round you. Humanity might want to by no potential create the perfect utopia, yet when a lot of human beings such as you help human beings round you, you are able to make the international slightly better perfect.

I see both sides of it.
I was one of those completely sex-literate teenagers. I knew sooo much about it, and from my role models learned to be all-knowing when it came to all kinds of sex.
What nobody ever bothered to tell me is that I was wayyy too young, and that there are much more important things to be using my time doing.
I hated my extensive sex education. I wish there was a way to explain the technical part of reproduction, while showing kids what happens when you engage in unprotected sex...how hard it is to raise a baby at age 14.....and how really UNIMPORTANT sex should be in a teenagers life.

I think the big problem is the fact a lot of parents rely on the schools system to teach their children about sex. We also tend to start too late in teaching them and we tend to let sex be a taboo topic. I think that is more parents took an active role in teaching and allowing questions our youth would be more prepared. That is what I plan on doing at least.

I agree. As a nation, we constantly believe we are the best at war, technology economy, education, and yet we have failed to get rid of the taboo and fear of talking openly about sex like other nations who we look at being inferior. I think we should step up to the game and educate our youth, which is the future of America.

First because parents dont want to talk to their kids about it or wait too long.
Second, because what sex-ed IS offered in schools is more geared toward preventing a pregnancy now and now how a pregnancy will actually happen. T
