I live in GA, and they just had this mom on trial, Jeanine Echols, for "lying" so her kids could go to a better school, she was aquitted but if she had been found giulty the DA was trying to get SEVERAL years in prison for this, do you think justice was served or was this just another case of the government wasting taxpayers money?

IMHO, our justice system is a huge joke anymore. More and more people are tried, and convicted in cases on nothing more than Circumstantial evidence. Anymore, prosecutors stand up in front of the court acting out Hollywood type screen plays that are all about theory... not fact.

Fact is, this kind of prosecution will continue until we as a society say we have had enough. Fortunately, the jury in this case saw through all the smoke and mirrors.

Chick-a-Dee,

Your friend's uncle should not have gotten a 4 year sentence. He should have gotten a 30 minute sentence.

That is plenty of time for a man to say his prayers before facing the hangman.

Miss Kitty,

I'm glad your Mom was acquited. She should never have been brought to trial. At worst what she did was a misdemeanor and should have been handled with a fine.

Waste of money. So what she lied to get her child in a better school. I am not sure but is that the case where they prosecuted the grandmother as well? Anyway I don't think she deserves years in prison for something so stupid.

WASTE OF MONEY! My friend was raped from the time she was 4 til 8 by her uncle in Georgia. He got 4 years in prison. A life sentence for him would not have been a waste.

She was acquitted, so yes, justice was served. The DA felt that a crime was committed and it is the duty of the DA to pursue cases where a crime is suspected of being committed.
The citizen jury saw through the smoke and felt she was not guilty of a crime.
This is exactly how our system of justice is supposed to work, unfortunately this is not always the case.

That seems an extreem punishment. This is the type of thing that should not go to trial, there should be a fine associated with it etc...
