I've stopped watching wrestling a long time ago...I remember, more than 10 years ago, I watched every wednesday afternoon wrestling with my friends (yes, in France, this show was entitled 'Les superstars du catch' and was broadcasted on a cable channel only wednesday) Wrestling was and is not popular in France, but I found it very funny !
One week ago on youtube, I was watching a contest with wrestlers that i don't know of course, when i saw... Shawn Michael ! Whaoh, he's still here ? I was very surprised, and I wonder if other stars of 'my time' (about 10 years ago) are still fighting like him ? What is the 'life expentancy' (if I can say that) of a wrestler ?
I was a big fan of the Undertaker, and I liked Bam Bam, Tatonka, Bret heart... A good time... Ahhh...(nostalgia)

PS : sorry for my mistakes, I try to be understandable but it is not always easy...

In Quebec that wrestling program was named "Les superstars de la lutte" and was hosted by Edward Carpentier, later by Ray Rougeau. One of the interviewers hired by the WWF at that time was Barf Blondin, and if i'm right he now hosts a french TNA program along with P-C.O. (formerly one half of the Quebecqers team in WWF). The american staff did a great job too and i ultimately watched both versions.

Can you believe Vince McMahon really hosted the first episodes of Raw as american tv commentator? "Ooh! my goodness!" "This is sick!" Now we all know what happened to his ego. Jesse Ventura, before him, was fine too. But the best i think was Jerry the King Lawler.

On TNA, P.-C. O. brings something that I've not witnessed before from a wrestling commentator, he's very funny and at times I like the match descriptions better than the matches themselves! Though i'm not sure the French could understand everything he says.

Wrestlers from the 90s are most gone now and i think it's profitable for WWE, because the old guys would have had to adapt themselves with new stereotypes, trends etc. Like, I don't think Randy Savage or Jake Roberts could have handled the character of John Cena. Newbies like Kenny reminds me of the cobrakai finalist in Karate Kid 1 --- very efficient from my point of view --- with a kind mix of Beach Boys attitude, that's interesting. These characters could have been drafted four decades ago, yet not just one decade ago as we witness return of ancient trends. Cryme Time, Matt Hardy, the Rock --- that's actual and reflects changes in society/fans.

One I'm a bit disappointed about is Chris Masters. Thay guy had a "King Muscle" start and then he stalled and started to look gay like RVD or JBL.

On the other hand, feminine wrestling seems to be in a better condition than it ever was before the Raw era. I remember there was like 3 female wrestlers and one was champion. Now it's not the case, and some of them are strong characters with a background story, like Mickie James and Lita. Victoria looked great with Stevie Richards and now it's a disappointment to see her ranked behind Ashley... I guess that's how the business works.

Yea the "Heartbreak Kid" is still into wresting. Suprisingly, The Undertaker is too. A lot of the guys that were wrestling ten years ago are still involved in the different federations WWE, ECW, etc. but they are more into the corporate side of the business.
