I'm looking for a new monitor. As a graphic designer, what specs should I be looking for?

Something that will produce a high resolution image.

For flat panels, look for TCO'03 certification. This will give you a larger range of colours that will be displayed and will give a gray scale that stays gray rather than getting hints of colour.

Flat panels are smaller, brighter and have better geometry than CRTs.

CRTs have better colour reproduction.

anything hi def... or flat panel...if you go for the flat panel...get 2...you'll need the desktop space...brand and price doesnt really matter since this technology is always evolvoing and in 1 year you'll prolly need another monitor anyway

The biggest one you can afford. It should be at least flat screen, not neccisarily flat-panel. Definitely nothing under 19inches. 22 inches or higher would be better.
