When I was a teenager, a bunch of us were cruising through a neighborhood in a friends car and I thought, I wonder if you can jump from a moving car into somebody's front yard.

We opened the window and I perched on the door hanging on to the roof and the door handle (back then, car doors had actual chrome-plated handles instead of the recessed things they have these days. Anyway, one leg was hanging down as the driver tried to get closer to the curb.

Suddenly, my foot touched the curb and that was enough friction to pull my out. Like all good monkey boys, I instinctively got a death grip on the door handle to stop my fall, but since it was only from their to the ground, I got dragged down the street.

The driver was afraid to stop (also a teenager) because he thought I would slide under the car and get ground up in the engine fan (back then, most cars didn't have cowlings around the fans).

He finally did stop and I went sliding down the street into the light of the headlights. My shirt was shredded, as was my skin.

To this day, you can still make out the scars on my hips.

Yeah, how did we survive.

At 16, being terrified of entering art-school, I shaved my head to the scalp and drew a great big spider web on to my face using a very sharp-point black pencil.
It left a mark which lasted for a few weeks.
Luckily I entered art-school, which relishes in its many eccentricities, thus, I was sorry when the spider web disappeared and my hair began to grow back.
I was getting so many positive remarks for my stupidity . . however, I never drew a spider web on my face again . . its' center on the tip of my nose. But I did Shave totally my head in Graduate school, because I had decided to go to a costume party as a Henry More sculpture!

Went swimming under a bridge in the Florida Keys and got caught in the current as the Gulf flowed into the Atlantic and came as near to drowning as I ever have. I am a strong swimmer. And I almost didn't make it.
