Im 35 weeks pregnant, on May 9th i was told i was 30% effaced, and the babys head can be felt, however my cervix is still high and its anterior or something like that. What does all this mean? will i have the baby soon? I believe the baby dropped about 2 weeks ago. But the head can be felt when my OB did an internal exam Thanks!!

bah. my doctor could feel my baby's head at 29.5 weeks when i had preterm labor. it's been a month now and nothing, although i am continuing to dilate and efface. isn't it frustrating not knowing? i feel your pain.

The process has begun. It should be pretty soon now. Usually, once you have begin to dialate you tend to be with a week, maybe two of delivery. Keep an eye out for your mucus plug (bloody show) and or "leaking" (more wet, and more of it then discharge) from you vagina (incase you get a slow leak). Otherwise, wait for your water to break or heavy contractions.

30% efaced means the cervex is thinning, it has to thin out to dialate. Anterior cervex means it tis still tipped back, so it has not reached the point of dialation. it will likely be a few weks still. Good luck!
