Cold War question, if you couldn't tell.

This is how it reads on my paper: The technological "gap" that was wxposed between the two superpowers became known as the "Missle Gap". The blame for the gap was squarely placed on the inadequacy of the U.S. education system. As a result, Congress authorized milions to improve the teaching of solidcore subjects, emphasizing math, science and language. Name this Congressional Act (National Defense Education Act). HOW HAVE YOU BENEFITED FROM "EISENHOWER'S MONEY?

Well, benefits would be the added emphasis on science & math in the classroom's since Sputnik. We closed the gap and opened a new on the other side with the US in the lead. This forum (Yahoo) is a benefit of the technological creativity of the generations that have been educated in the US since Sputnik, in otherwords, educated on "Eisenhower's money"

Of course, there is always a downside. The added emphasis on science and math has come at the expense of other important subjects (social sciences, language arts, music, etc.)

To be honest with you, we never benefited from Eisenhower, never mind from his money if he ever had any. As a general, he was second rate, and as a President, he was far worse than that. He betrayed the White Russians when WWII ended and sent millions of them back to the Soviet Union in boxcars to be executed after he promised them amnesty and protection if they just laid down their arms. They did. He reneged. As President, he did little to end the Cold War but rather exacerbated it. Why Americans consider the man a hero is beyond my understanding.

Chow!!
