The practice of polygamy is no longer recognized by the church. To become a state, Utah had to outlaw polygamy and it was written into the state constitution before Utah was granted statehood. It is still illegal in the US and even if he were elected President, he would still be under the rule of US law. If he were to want to take multiple wives, the laws would have to be changed. And seeing as how the government claims to have a separation of church and state and that those laws violates several religious beliefs, including Islam where a man is allowed to take up to 4 wives, and were written purely on a religious basis, the law will be overturned in time. Though I doubt the practice will be all that widespread after the laws are overturned.

ok - If Romney were *choke* ... elected... that may be the LEAST of our issues... (by technique of ways, Mormons have formally denounced polygamy). yet Mormons trust another loopy issues that you do not even listen about... for instance, they're racist because they trust that Black human beings are the decendants of Abel. they even trust that God lives on yet another planet and regulations us from Outerspace... sounds vaguely like scientology, huh? Mormons actually have particular underclothes that they are not allowed to eliminate except they are going to make slightly one with the guy they're married to. there's no such ingredient as compromise with a Mormon... it truly is largely strict and does no longer enable for liberal interpretation... lets almost absolutely be less than non secular rule or particular chaos in a count of months.

I dont think he'd ever make a good president but it has nothing to do with being a mormon, more to do with being a moron... and mormons dont practice polygamy anymore...

just so you know there chief... oh, and drew up top go **** yourself, im liberal and you clearly dont know what you're talking about ***... just because someone doesnt believe in god or whatever the **** you believe in doesnt make them less of a person, so why dont you shove that bible right up your ***...

and yeah I am fine with people believing whatever they want but dont be stupid and think you're better then everyone else who doesnt believe what you do.

I live in Salt Lake City and I can tell you, I wasn't sure what to expext when I moved here. I have to say, the people are very nice and I respect and was impressed with the LDS people, their faith and their strong sense of resposibility to community and adherence to law. I have no doubt Mr. Romney would be a good president if elected, and has nothing but good motives. So to answer your question.... no.

If he plans to carry the South, at least one of those wives had better be his cousin. If not, Rudy G will walk away with the South, because he was married to his cousin for 13 years, until the Catholic Church annuled the marriage.

You're ignorant. Mormons or LDS don't have multiple wives. He's actually one of the only candidates that hasn't married more than one wife. I am LDS by the way, so yes, I do know exactly what I'm talking about.

Amazing that some liberals and democrats think that a Godless adulterer is a better presidential candidate than a man who's proud of his religious beliefs. Do me a favor, and this December when you buy a Christmas tree and gifts for all your loved ones, ask yourself WHY?

Most of the morman church got rid of this weird rule decades ago. I'm sure there are small sects that follow it, as with any other religion..small sects that do what they want.
