is switching from standard directTv receiver to an HD receiver cost anything?

You will have to purchase a new HD reciever. The basic HD reciever is on sale at DirecTV for $99 (with contract of course) and the HD-DVR is $399. The installation is free.

You will have to buy a DirecTV HD receiver and subscribe to HD service to receive HD channels which will cost you another $10 a month.

you have gotten a difficulty. once I ordered hd provider with Dish, they replaced out the field and post a 2nd dish pointed in a various path. They pronounced that hd is on one satellite tv for pc and sd is on yet another. good success
