My last period started on May 5th and ended on May 11th. My husband and I had sex pretty much every other day since it ended. On the 16th, I started to bleed a very tiny bit (it wasn't even enough to see on my panties). Then the very next day, the bleeding was gone. What does this mean? We've been trying to concieve for almost 2 years. Maybe I'm just getting my hopes up?

Some women experience a small amount of spotting or bleeding very early in pregnancy, about a week to 14 days after fertilization. Known as implantation bleeding, it happens when the fertilized egg first attaches to the lining of the uterus. This type of bleeding is usually a bit earlier, spottier and lighter in color than a usual period or a brownish discharge and doesn't last long.

If you think you're pregnant, it might seem like a really long wait, but doctors recommend you don't take a test until your period is a day overdue. If you can't tell whether your period is late or not, because of an erratic cycle, or because you've taken the pill without a break, then you should wait three weeks after unprotected sex before you take the test.

Make sure you read all of the instructions that come with your home pregnancy test carefully. Also, take note of the test reading time given in the test instructions. Certain tests could give a false reading if they are read too early or too late.

If you have taken a home pregnancy test and have doubts about its accuracy, you should contact a Doctor or health care provider for advice and possibly a pregnancy blood test.

Good luck

The math isn't quite right for pregnancy. If your period started on May 05, you probably wouldn't have ovulated yet, and even if you had, implantation bleeding occurs at the END of implantation and implantation is a process that takes several days (7-10). So your spotting on the 16th was way too soon if it was implantation bleeding.

In fact, with your period starting on May 05, and assuming you have a 28-day cycle, your anticipated ovulation date would have been May 19--making your fertile phase May 16,17,18,19,20. If your cycle is shorter, it would be sooner than that, and if its longer it would be later than that. Of course you can ovulate any time your body decides it wants to do that, but in the normal course of things the timing was off when you had your spotting.

I think your spotting was probably remnants from your last period or perhaps your sexual activities at that time were too rough and your cervix got sensitive.

FYI... also, your period end date has no relevance with trying to conceive. Your period start date is the big date for everything, which is Day 1 of your cycle. The only other relevant date would be the length of your cycle. No other date is really important.

Good luck, I hope you conceive soon.

Well, maybe not. The first time I got pregnant I had that same thing happen - small amounts of blood. This is called spotting. It's not normal, but it does happen often. But, it's still too soon to tell if you are pregnant. I would wait until your next period is due, and if you are late, then take a pregnancy test. When I had that spotting, I had already found out I was pregnant. When I saw that small amount of blood, I thought that the test was false and I started my period. The next day it was gone. I called my doctor and told them what happened, and that's when they told me this is called spotting. I have 3 kids now, so maybe your spotting is an indication that you have finally conceived. Just wait till the begining of the month (June) and when you are late take a test. Good luck!

It could be implantation bleeding but it seems to be too early for that. If you have a normal 28 day cycle you should ovulate around the 14th day which would bring you to now and then implantation would occur about 10 days from then so not likely. Perhaps it was a sign of ovulation for you. Some women I know experience early spotting as they ovulate once the egg has been released. Sending baby dust.

Hm...the timing doesn't seem quite right, since you wouldn't be ovulating until about sometime next week, assuming your cycle is the avg 28 days.

The bleeding could be abrasion from sex, or if I'm completely wrong about your ovulation dates, it could be spotting. I doubt that it is spotting though.

Best thing to do would be to relax and try not to think about it. Since you've been TTC for so long, you probably know this but the more you think about it, the more messed up your cycle can get. Don't stress, and then if your period is due, and its late, test and see.

Good luck to you! *Baby dust*

There's always the possiblity that you're pregnant or that your body is just going through something. I would wait until you're late and then take a hpt. If that comes out neg. and you're still late then go and to the doc. and get a blood test done. Just don't stress out about it! I'll keep my fingers crossed that it was implantation bleeding!!! Good luck!

don't get your hopes up it is possible it is implatation bleeding but it seems really early for that unless you ovulation right after your period....everyone is so different so that could be the case for you...my friend is the same way ovulates way early on day 10 and me the opposite ovulate really late on day 19.

Good luck
