Sorry but you are wrong and by the way I am a lifelong Red Sox fan but it is way way way to early to count anyone out. I think the Red Sox will hold on but never count anyone out, it is not even the All Star break yet and we have no even hit the trade deadline. The Yankees also have a legit shot at the Wild Card. As much as I wish we could count them out, it is to early still.

9 1/2 games out in mid may is nothing. No it's not time to plan for next year. I think this is good for the Yankees because it takes a lot of pressure off. People expect them to win the division every year, but this year if they win the wildcard I think they have a better chance of going all the way believe it or not.

Under the Joe T. Era the Yankees have been 9 games out as late as september and still won the division. So don't worry about next year there is still a whole lot of Baseball to be played.

It's early and the Red Sox are playing at a pace they can't sustain .
Here is the math
Assuming that 100-62 will win the AL East
The Red Sox would have go 72-50 and play .590 ball the rest of the year
The beloved Yankees would have to go 82-41 and play .666 ball the rest of the year
It will be difficult but by no means impossible

Don't start talking yet. I hope the Yankees lose the rest of their games, but is that gonna happend? No. Once they catch up to you guys they'll be all over you. I root for a sad team called the Pirates so I never really could do any trash talking accept for the 70s. GO BUCS!

The Yankees are not dead. There are well over 100 games left. They have too much talent to remain this far behind. Even if they don't catch Boston, they could be the wild card team.

I'm not sure if you noticed but the Yankess usually start off slow. And the Sox always fall apart around August. I don't even need to bring up 1978.

I am a huge Red Sox fan and you are a fool to think that a 9 1/2 game lead in May is safe. Theres a lot of season left, so cool your jets. You are one of the idiots that won't show your face if the Sox do lose the lead due to unexpected injuries or....

in basic terms one greater effective win for Boston. If Boston loses something of their game. The yankees are however at the back of the Twins, too... Boston will play the angels indoors the 1st around... Sorry.

I hope you're enjoying your moment. Whether you like it or not 1978 is recorded baseball history. I know that in the heart of every Red Sox fan looms the imagine of failure. That's what they are good at, finding a way to choke. This year will not be any different. You don't win the pennant in May. What a short memory you Yankee haters have. As I recall Boston was flying high last season as well......until the five game set in Boston. The Red Sox were never heard from again. So enjoy the moment, it won't last.
