Yes....you are too skinny even if your weren't in contact sports.
When working out use MAX weight with few reps.....vs...light weight with multiple reps. Example (and adjust the weight to you ability so you don't injure yourself): at 140lbs start with...
= Bench press - 100lbs and 4 reps. If too light move up to 120lbs and 4 reps. Do 3 sets of 4 reps. Use what ever weight (<100lbs or 120>) you can achieve 3 sets of 4 reps. Increase the weight as your strength allows
= Shoulder press - 30lbs of 3 sets of 4 reps. Again, adjust the weight to allow you to do at least 3 sets.
This is a difficult & tough excercie to do and to maintain. This press if you need to do 3 set.but do 1 set of 4reps; 1 set of 3 reps & 1 set of 2 reps and build up to 3 sets of 4 reps
=Lat pull downs - 30lbs of 2 sets of 4 reps.
LIMIT anaerobic excercise - running, stairmaster, swimming, treadmill, tennis, basketball, soccer, raquetball & squash.
And yes....to the level of your ability....push-ups - start with 3 sets of 5 reps & increase the numbers of reps. Same with pull-ups and increase the reps. There's a start.....and YES talk and work with your coach.
AS FOR FOOD??? Carbs, Mac&Cheese, pizza, DAIRY Products - Whole 4% fat milk, Cheese (non lean), Mayonnaise, peanut butter (w/oil), beef - less than 10% lean - hot dog, hamburger, ham w/ 20% content; french fries, onion rings, milk shakes....deep fried anything...fish sticks, patties, chicken steaks, nuggets, corn dogs....creamy salad dressing; cookies, Ice Cream (creamy, milk & full fat %), bananas, yogurt (full fat %), whole 4% fat milk, bread (white),
Hamburger Helper (<10 lean meat & potato & pasta style helper) & bacon.

You need to eat lots of protein, things like chicken, turkey, and some beef occasionally. Other sources of good protein are peanut butter and cheese. The eggs you are eating is a good source as well. You should also supplement this with healthy carbs like oatmeal(not instant), and fruits and vegetables. Make sure that you are drinking enough water too, your body will hold weight as you work your muscles, but they need water and lots of it. If you want try some protein powder(soy protein), whey protein will give you bad gas all the time. Plus you are 17 and your metabolism is still really high apparently, so your body will burn more calories without the help of exercise. Also you might want to focus on some powerlifting workouts, these exercises are designed to bulk you up. Hope this helps.

No, no, no. You're not ugly because you're skinny. I'm 5'3 105 pounds, but that doesn't make me ugly. People may call me skinny or petite but I'm not ugly and it's the same with you. You're not ugly. You are beautiful. Guys will tease just about anyone. There are plenty of men who like thin women. If they are shorter than you, they're picking on you 'cause they're jealous! If you're young, you'll fill out over time and get some curves if you don't have any. And if guys still tease you now and in the future, that's too bad for them because they don't see the pretty girl in front of them. Someone will notice you sooner or later and he'll love you the way you are! I used to complain about being skinny all the time and then I look at my sisters, who are all kinda overweight except one, and I shut up. You're starting off thin which means it'll be easier for you to stay looking good longer than someone who's heavier. Love yourself for who you are.

Eggs are good, they have high amount of protein, protein milkshakes or milk, look for nutrition, sport and body building websites. Drink plenty of water which will help you keep your weight under control.
Give it time as well. You are 17 and in time will naturally fill out. Good luck.

My stepson pretty much fits your description and he was just diagnosed with diabetes. It might be worth getting checked out just to be safe.
