Simple!

when Volume V = (Side)^3
Therefore, Side = Cube Root of V

Thus, when Volume V = 729cm^3
Side = Cube Root of 729cm^3 = Cube Root of 9cm * 9cm*9cm

Side = 9cm.

Since the volume is s^3, then you need:

cuberoot(729)

It turns out that 9*9*9 = 729. So s=9

V = s^3, so to find s given V, just take the cube root of V.
s = V^(1/3) = (729)^(1/3) = (9*81)^(1/3) = (9*9*9)^(1/3) = 9.

s³ = 729
s = (729)^(1/3)
s = 9
Length of side is 9 cm

s^3 = 729
then s = (729)^(1/3) (third root - most calculators have it)
s = 9 cm
