I am thinking about buying some land and building my own house. Is there anyone out there in the house building business who can give me some figures for average material costs per square foot?

We are building a custom home right now. It's almost completed. A home can cost anywhere from 70.00 to over 300.00 a sq. ft depending on what you put in it. ( flooring type, trim work, cabinetry & countertops plumbing fixtures, appliances, siding, landscaping etc.) This cost does not, of course include the price of the land. Check out this web site for an example . It is a home plan. It has a calculator to figure out the cost. Another variable will be the area of the country you live in.
