Does anyone know where these two bands are from or at least one one them?

Ok, these bands I've heard I absolutely LOVE now. But I was wondering where they are from. One of them is Placebo and the other is HIM. Anybody ever heard of them?

Meeting by chance in a London tube station, old classmates Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal got talking and Brian, noticing that Stefan had a guitar strapped to his back, invited him to come and watch him sing and play guitar... The two guys hadn't been friends at the school they went to in luxembourg, Brian had been unpopular- preferring drama to sport- and Stefan was a star player on the basketball team... But by the end of that evening stefan came up to brian and said 'lets start a band'. This is quite incredible as brian says that in the space of 7 years him and stefan may have exchanged 'one sentence', and now all of a sudden they were starting a band.

HIM is a band from Finland formed in 1991 by vocalist Ville Valo, guitarist Mikko Lindström, and bassist Mikko Paananen.[1] They have released five full length albums to date. The band was originally called His Infernal Majesty, but they soon changed this to simply HIM. (see below). As of 2006, they are the first and only Finnish rock band to sell Gold in the United States.

HiM is a dub influenced post-rock group formed in 1995 by Doug Scharin, drummer for the bands Rex and June of 44. Their first album, Egg, was their most dub-based effort. Each successive album has gone more in a quasi-world music direction. After some recording for Crooklyn Dub Consortium and Wordsound, HiM settled on a lineup of Scharin with Bundy K. Brown, Rob Mazurek and Jeff Parker, also members or sometime members of Tortoise. Their first album was the underground hit Sworn Eyes, produced by Teo Macero. A few personnel changes followed, and the revamped lineup released Our Point of Departure in 1999, which signified a very clear shift toward a more jazz-like sound, followed by a major American and European tour. In 2003, HiM released Many In High Places Are Not Well on FatCat Records, which was received as their most successful and fully-realized release. Peoples was released in mid-2006, featuring a cleaner sound with more vocals than any of HiM's previous releases. Included in this line-up are Martin Perna and Jordan McLean from Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, Griffin Rodriguez from Need New Body, Adam Pierce (Mice Parade).
