I have my own account on this computer but I'm wondering if I change the plain cursor to some other cursor... will this be on only my account?

p.s. also how can I change it back?

YES, it would only affect your own acct. because when you log off it "saves your personal settings" you see that phrase as you log out.
You can change it back by same way changed it in first place, in control panel under mouse pointer setting , choose restore defaults.

If you change the cursor it should only change on your account.

Go to control panel, mouse, and select pointers tab. The pointers can be changed from there and it is the same process to change them back selecting windows default from the drop down.
