I believe that what consenting adults do is their business and not mine provided that they are not harming anybody else and provided that they are being reasonably respectful of other people.

In order to overturn an existing law there has to be consensus from each state that the current law is suppressing or wrongfully denying it's citizens certain rights.

Example the civil rates movement started with protests and cry’s from the oppressed to American citizens that their civil rights were being violated. Over time through the legal system laws were put in place to deny segregation. This benefited society in long run because no man or women should be treated inferior based on the color of there skin.

I've been trying to understand the injustice of not allowing gay couples to marry? So if they can't marry the won't receive the same tax breaks as some married couples have in some states. Nor are they allowed a marriage certificate which means the state doesn't recognize their marriage legally. This doesn't mean they can't live together, have sexual relations with each other or even pronounce they are a couple. They are still treated the same if they go to the post office, take public transportation, or decide to run for a political office.

In my state, California, a proposition to amend our state's constitution to define marriage between a woman and a man passed by more than 70%. This has been the will of the majority of the people. I can't see a legitimate reason for gay couples to claim injustice. Their right as defined by the constitution, “To the pursuit of happiness,” is not denied to them.

Why does the state give tax benefits to married couples? It's because married couples have usually more than one child who will eventually become a tax payer or maybe even serve in the military or work for the government.

No matter what why you look at it gay couples cannot produce offspring. They cannot create life to take their place in society.

Did you know that gay men are 700% more likely than straight men to have suffered from sexual abuse as children? That evidence of causality is similar to the effect of smoking and lung cancer.
Have you heard the vagina monologues? There is a portion describing how "glad" a woman was to have been raped as a little girl by an older woman, because she now enjoys the lesbian life style.
I recall when the DSM III was changed to say that homosexuality was "not" due to psychological issues. That decision was not based on research (science) but rather based on political views. Since then, further research has been silenced or prejudicially applied.

So, are homosexuals "made" by sexual abuse and exposure to pornography, or are they "born"? It seems that some indeed are born that way, and more are "made" by external influences. Either way, they are free to live as they choose.

So, if homosexuals are free to live as they choose, should they legally marry? I believe the answer to that is, "no". Marriage is not about individual rights and preferences. Marriage is about GIVING UP your rights and preferences for the good of society and the care of children. True, some don't have children, and some are selfish and get divorced, but that is beside the point. A legal institution for the betterment of society is designed to promote and stabilize the nuclear family.

Would you purposefully deny a child the right to EVER have a natural mother? Would you purposefully take away the concept of father from a child? Is this marriage good for society and children or is it purely for the personal "rights" of individuals?

Would you like to have "Turkey Baster Day" or "Sperm Donor Day" or "Surrogate Day", or simply "Parent Day" when Mother and Father become politically incorrect? Do you want every children's textbook to have "Heather's Mommies?" What is next? Logically, we will also have "Heather's Mommy has a different boyfriend every Night" and "Heather's Daddy married another Lady, now Heather has 3 parents" or "Heather's Mommy likes the Doggy a LOT".... Slippery slope, or accurate prediction?
