First of all it is Great Britain. The flag in the Union flag, only called the Union Jack when flown fro the jack staff at the bow of British war ships. The Union flag is a combination of the following Crosses; the cross of St George, St Andrew and St Patrick

The flag of Great Britain is the UNION FLAG. Most people will say the Union Jack...it isn't! It can only be called the 'Jack' on one of Her Majesty's Royal Navy ships. On land, the flag of Great Britain is the Union Flag.
Not a lot of people know that!!

Although the union flag/jack is for the United Kingdom and not just Great Britain (whic is Wales, Scotland and England and does not include Northern Ireland)
