how many red bellied piranha do i need to make them feel like they are in a school?

i only have a 20 gallon tank

About six but your tank is too small for this amout i would upgrade to a 50 gallon

6 or more seems to be a magic number for schooling fish like piranha. For that you will need a 90 gallon or larger, better to have a 125 gallon.
