I found out at 19 weeks exactly, with the use of the 3D/4D ultrasound (that's all my doctor's office has). We could have found out a week earlier but they were booked so I had to wait another week, which was pure torture!

I found out that I'm having a girl at 20 wks with a regular 2D ultrasound. I read an article on fox news a while back that recommended not getting medically unessecary ultrasounds. Apparently researches have been doing studies on the effects of ultrasounds on fetus' (using mice as test subjects)and they've discovered that it could possibly affect brain development. I've posted a link to the article below.

I was 20 weeks and I did the regular 2D.
Luckily my son was positioned correctly for them to distincly see what they needed to! And, he seems to love when I get ulstrasounds and I was able to see his face, etc fairly well on the 2D and got a glimpse at what he looked like (his father!)
I can't wait to have another ultrasound and see what he looks like now, but I will not pay for the 3D. I heard the ultrasound technicians at those places aren't doctors, and unless your baby is positioned correctly, you could end up wasting $150 bucks or more!

I have 4 children. I did not find out what sex they were until they were born. With my older 3, no one had regular ultrasounds. Ultrasounds were strictly for checking out problems with the pregnancy or the baby. My 4th baby was a surprise born when her siblings were 18, 15, and 12. I had 12 regular ultrasounds because of my age (38) and I had Gestational Diabetes. My husband and I chose not to find out ahead of time what the sex was. I have a 1 month old grandson, my daughter and son-in-law chose not to find out ahead of time what sex the baby was.

I was 10 weeks but that is very early & unusual most people find out between 16-20 weeks if the baby cooperates.

I was three and one half months pregnant when I found out my baby was a boy. I didn't really have a choice. I was in a car accident and the nurse kind of let it slip.

There is a brand new test (i read an article about it yesterday on netscape.com and also on msn.com) that can determine the sex of the baby after 6 weeks!
