Should we succumb sex offenders to lears and sneers as they sit at a red traffic light?

ok i will let you guys pick the best answer. They are all best answers. I don't like the way big brother is creeping into society. But this was a bad example bc of heanous nature of these crimes and the fact they use cars to commit there acts quite regularly.

So we should support the 3 states considering this type of deterrent.

And drunk drivers too.

But if it doesn't involve a car then we shouldn't put it on a plate in my opinion.

thanks

their should be flogging in my book as well. why would you feel sorry for them? are you one of them? protecting your own? I wonder how many children died from aids that was given to them by those monsters? so not only did they suffer a horrendous horror but now they die too?

It seems a whole lot suspicious that you would defend a child rapist.

I see you have added more to your question to side track people from thinking the first question was not the oriningal intent. but they already saw the ORINGIAL question.

Well, I would hardly call a sex offense a 'splinter', but I do think fluorescent lights is a little extreme & it puts the rest of the family in danger. It hardly leaves room for any kind of forgiveness in the future. Of course, where does one draw the line between a rapist & someone urinating in public? I think it turns into a crime when people start exposing theirselves, especially to children, because it takes away an innocence that cannot be returned. I say when someone gets hurt(physically or emotionally)that criminal's name definately should be listed. There seems to be so much gray area. I personally feel that they should all receive some sort of rehabiltiation, regardless of the level of crime! It might keep the 'child porn' sicko from turning into a rapist. There has to be reform for at least some of these people!

I have an 8yr old child. I found out reciently that this guy that me and my friends hung around once in awhile was a level 3 sex offender, which is the worst kind. He raped two little girls. He offered to watch my daughter one afternoon while I went to school, before I knew about all this. I don't let men watch my daughter so luckly he didn't get the chance to do anything. But he could have. I Do think that there should be some way of knowing. And if some perv wants to rape a poor kid, I think that they deserve to live life being beat up and leared at all the time. I personally think they should have their penis's cut off by a spoon, but I guess thats not legal.

Unfortunately, having spent many years in law enforcement. The first thing that needs to be changed is the sex offender classifications. You must understand that in almost all states, if an 18 yr old male has sex with his 16 yr old g/f and the parents press charges, he has to register as a sex offender. In this case, as in some others which are lumped into a sex offender category, it would not be right. I also question the vigilante ramifications of this.

Sex offender license plates are stupid. If they're still dangerous, then keep them locked up. Furthermore, they don't distinguish different crimes within the sex offender category. An 18 year old that has sex with a 17 year old has the same brand as a child molester. I'm not a fan of this scarlet letter type of punishment.

Gotta love the knee-jerk responses here. To do this would be unconstitional and go against everything it means to be american, must like a witch hunt. Re-offense rate is only 5% for those who got treatment. I think this law would have a reverse effect, and kids would say "thier plate aint green so they must be okay". Also, justice dept stats show that most offenses occure in the home, not the street or parking lot. View the information below and get the facts, if ya'll got the guts.

Think in the mind of a sex offender..If you were a sex offender would you even go register to get a license plates if you knew people could tell just by looking at your license plate that you were a sex offender..I think not

What is wrong with shame in this country. They should be ashamed maybe it will stop them from feeling so secure in this country to do their crimes, but the plates should only be for the most deviant and violent sex offenders. Shame stops a lot of people from doing a lot of things and it should be expressed more. They made their own bed, let them lie in it. People are afraid to be called a biggot these days, people make you feel ashamed, but they don't want the sex offender to be ashamed, dose not make sence. They should be the most ashamed.

i am torn with this debate. on the one hand is the protection of the public, they deserve to know that a sex predator is on the streets. but on the other hand this is a violation of the persons individual rights to be safe. as i think the plates would open them up to ridicule and violence.
but i think as long as it is passed into a law and approved by the supreme court as being constitutional, then i will be all for it. but i am just glad i am not on that bench.

and to clarify, the plates would be for sex predators only . not sex offenders. the worst of the two

It doesn't make anyone safer. Why would you tell your child it is okay to get into any car with a stranger let alone one with a green plate. It doesn't help because if your child is getting into any car with a stranger than there is some parenting you need to do. While we are at it why don't we just tattoo sex offender on their forehead so people know who they are. This is all just a dog and pony show to make parents feel safe, but do little to actually protect them.
