My three would be Dionne Warwick, Pattie LaBelle or Gladys Knight. They have beenthrough it all and then some and I would trust them to be honest.

i think of including Ellen could be giving American Idol a twist, and a competent one, too. the clarification being is that she has on no account been in the musical container yet she's in basic terms like the exterior international finding in- she would be waiting to be judging on whether she's attracted to how the guy is making a music and appearing. Her perspectives could be comparable to those gazing from their homestead. additionally, she does maximum of interviews with different singers that she could desire to be sure the contestants character and settle on "S/he has what it takes, super character" or "S/he sings sturdy yet they have the incorrect concepts-set". i do no longer think of she'd decide plenty on how the singers are dressing the two, that's something the different judges lean on. Someone who is an actual singer with real range, talent, and longevity in the industry. I think Mariah Carey would be a great judge (not that she'd ever consider it) because she knows what she's talking about when it comes to vocals and pitch, she knows what works and what doesn't in terms of style of music (she's had failures, too: look at "Glitter"), and she's such a personality she would rival Simon with funny comments and attitude.

I would never replace Paula. He little drunken antics are so funny and I love that look on Simon's face when she starts babbling. Too funny.
Aretha would never do it because it requires her to fly and she is afraid of flying.
Madonna thinks a little to highly of herself so not her either.
I think Janet has the greatest potential to fall into Paulaesque drunken behavior, so I say Janet.

Definitely not Janet Jackson. But, I do agree that Paula has to be replaced. She's too nice and she's never serious.

I would replace her with someone like Cyndi Lauper or Annie Lennox. I think she is good for the show. I wouldn't replace her. Now Randy is a different story.

I would pick JLo or Gwen Stefani. They are both very talented and verstile. However, Paula is humorous and I enjoy seeing Simon's reaction to her comments.

Sharon Osborne would be a good candidate. She could dish it back to Simon as well as be supportive to the contestants, and honest, as well as humorous at the appropriate moments.
